A recent copyright controversy has arisen about Shephard Fairey's "Hope" poster created in 2008 as a campaign poster and an AP photo taken in 2006 by Manny Garcia at a National Press Club meeting. Nonetheless, the buzz the poster created has landed it a place in the National Portrait Gallery, as covers of both Time and Esquire magazines, while its adaptation has become an international means of amateur artistic expression across social networking sites.
