Avila University has a high standard and excellent reputation for its nursing program. There are many students who commute and chose Avila strictly because of the quality nursing program. So it would make sense that the Avila University Student Nursing Program or (ASNO) is one of the top student organizations at Avila. The (ASNO’s) mission statement is to contribute to the nursing education in order to provide the highest quality healthcare possible. The program provides its representatives of fundamental and current professional interests and concerns. Avila Universities Student Nursing Program has two advisee’s Rhonda Brown and Tracy Rogers.
After catching up with (ASNO’s) vice president Emily Buxman we were able to discuss some current issues taking place within the organization. With the work demand on each (ASNO) student very high the organization only meets once a month. When (ASNO) meets monthly it is usually the programs two advisee’s, president, vice president, and the programs representatives. (ASNO) meets over lunch and discusses various topics in the medical field and also listens to a guest speaker. After asking vice president of (ASNO) Emily Buxman what her favorite part about (ASNO) was she replied, “We do two service projects per year in (ASNO) and over Christmas break we were able to adopt a single mother and her family and purchase gifts and food for her and her children.” When first year (ASNO) student Adam Mattison was asked what he cherished most about (ASNO) he replied, “Right now there are more people than every applying for the nursing program at Avila making the selection process tougher and to know that I got automatically accepted was an honor. Now I can do my part in contributing to high demand in the health field.”
